Luglio 2014 - Vasily Kluykin incontra Gigi Bon a Venezia

THE FORTNIGTLY REWIEW, Venice and the theatre of memory
Article in the Magazine Art & Culture The Fortnigtly.
Images of temporality, as in “The Dream of St. Mark,” they flow unimpeded between the past and what is passing, between the present and what will come. Pursuing that tradition with humor and grace, the art of Gigi Bon collapses our different epochs into a seamless continuum.

I have always felt like a rhinoceros
from the article of Arianna Cola - Gigi Bon- Atlantis Magazine Dic 2013- Gen 2014
The very first time I had the opportunity to meet Bon was in 2010 and I was struck by her sculptures, the beautiful mood of her studio and her courageous and determined “turn” from the legal and the financial field, to the artistic one. Since then, what remained impressed in my memory are her passion for the rhinos, the mood of her atelier, and a big, mysterious amethyst shaped prismatically, inserted in one of her sculptures to form the nail of a wonderful female rhino example, Artemisia. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Gigi Bon again, talk with her about her work, and I still liked a lot Mirabilia: the feeling of amazement and the desire to discover the wonders it contains were renovated, together with the feeling of entering “on tiptoe” in such working and exhibition space that has the warmth and the personal touch of a much beloved home.

Art: Gigi Bon and her Cabinet of Marvels
We stumbled upon Gigi’s Studio D’Arte Mirabilia by accident trying to find our way to Palazzo Grassi in Venice. Nestled near Casanova’s house and the Montenegro Pavillion this studio had us all umming and ahhing at all the beautiful things found in this treasure trove. We had the luck to encounter the artist Gigi Bon herself and asked her a couple of questions on her art. When asked why the Rhino featured so heavily in her art she said that she considered it a form of self portrait. Gigi is one of the few true Venetians left. read it all
